Pintando la casa

The other day, Mom and Dad asked me to help them paint the house.

El otro día, mamá y papá me pidieron que los ayudara a pintar la casa.

I was so excited! I had never helped paint a house before.

¡Estaba tan emocionado! Nunca antes había ayudado a pintar una casa.

I went to my room and put on my painting clothes.

Fui a mi habitación y me puse mi ropa de pintura.

I put on an old pair of jeans and a shirt that I didn’t mind getting dirty.

Me puse un viejo par de jeans y una camisa que no me importaba ensuciar.

Then I went downstairs and found Mom and Dad in the garage.

Luego bajé las escaleras y encontré a mamá y papá en el garaje.

They were putting on their painting clothes too.

Ellos también se estaban poniendo la ropa de pintar.

First, we had to move all of the furniture out of the way.

Primero, tuvimos que mover todos los muebles.

We put all of the chairs and tables in the middle of the room.

Pusimos todas las sillas y mesas en el centro de la habitación.

Then we pushed them all against the walls.

Luego empujamos todo contra las paredes.

We had to be careful not to scratch the walls.

Tuvimos que ser cuidadosos de no rayar las paredes.

Next, we covered the floor with a big sheet of plastic.

A continuación, cubrimos el suelo con una gran lámina de plástico.

Then it was time to start painting!

Dad opened up a can of paint and poured some into a paint tray.

Papá abrió una lata de pintura y vertió un poco en una bandeja para pintura.

He handed me a brush and showed me how to dip it into the paint.

Then he showed me how to brush it onto the wall.

It was so much fun! I painted huge strokes across the wall.

I was making such a mess, but I didn’t mind because it was so much fun!

After we finished painting, we had to clean up our mess.

Después de que terminamos de pintar, tuvimos que limpiar nuestro desorden.

We put all of the furniture back in its place and threw away the sheet of plastic.

Volvimos a poner todos los muebles en su sitio y tiramos la lámina de plástico.

Then we washed our hands and faces with soap and water.

Luego nos lavamos las manos y la cara con agua y jabón.

Painting is hard work, but it was worth it because our house looks so much better now!

Pintar es un trabajo duro, pero valió la pena porque nuestra casa se ve mucho mejor ahora.
